Enhancements & Improvements

iOS app updates

Your Lightroom Classic workflow, restored. We resolved a bug that caused republishing raw files from Lightroom Classic to fail. You can once again push updates and refinements to your galleries seamlessly, keeping your creative workflow uninterrupted.

Protected galleries, smoother access. We corrected an issue preventing logged out viewers from downloading password-protected photos on iOS. The people you've trusted with access can now fully enjoy and save the images you've shared, just as you intended.

Search fields on iOS don't appear greyed out after searching. Your results and search bar stay clear and readable so you can keep browsing without any visual confusion.

The Galleries tab on iOS no longer gets stuck on a loading spinner. Your galleries now load as expected so you can get to your photos right away.

Clearer choices for selling photographers. We renamed "Download Buttons" to "Allow Free Downloads" in gallery settings, so you can confidently manage which galleries offer free downloads.

Find what you're looking for, faster. We refreshed the search field colors for better legibility, making it effortless to see what you're typing.

Sharing made simple for everyone. We fixed an issue preventing logged out users from saving images to their camera roll, so the people you share with can easily keep your photos.

We made the password experience consistent across iOS, web, and other native apps so you'll receive the same clear guidance no matter where you sign in.

Android app updates

Eligible US users can now complete purchases like subscriptions and add-ons directly through SmugMug's web pages for a smoother checkout, the password experience has been updated across iOS, web, and all other native apps to better protect your account, minor image editing bug fixes improve the editing experience, and the gallery download option is now clearly labeled "Allow Free Downloads”.

Android 4.13.8 improves library browsing reliability so your photos always load completely as you scroll, even in large libraries. No more gaps or missing results — just smooth, uninterrupted browsing.

Setting your profile picture on Android now works reliably with any photo you choose. We fixed a crash that could occur when selecting a RAW file from your device. RAW file uploads are available through our Source add-on subscription.

LrC plugin updates

We shipped an improvement to the Lightroom Classic Plugin. A new “Disconnect” button makes it easy to log out of your SmugMug account and sign back in as a different user. Previously, the only way to disconnect was to delete and reinstall the plugin entirely.

Publishing DXO-processed images from Lightroom Classic now works reliably so your editing workflow stays uninterrupted from start to publish.

Windows uploader updates

We've moved the Windows Uploader to a direct download from SmugMug for a better, more reliable experience. If you currently have the Microsoft Store version installed, the app will guide you through a simple switch to the new version. If your Windows device is running in S Mode, you'll need to switch out of S Mode first to install the direct download.

Bug Fixes

Your custom domain experience is now more reliable and secure. We resolved intermittent issues where some custom domains weren't receiving proper security certificates or were displaying connection errors. These cases were limited and didn't affect all users, but if you were impacted, your personalized web address now loads smoothly with a trusted, secure connection every time.

Seamless domain updates. We corrected a silent failure that occurred when replacing an existing custom domain in Site Settings. Updating your domain now works cleanly and confirms the change, so you can confidently evolve your site without second-guessing whether it took effect.

HEIC photos that look as stunning as you shot them. We fixed a rendering issue causing color artifacts in HEIC files uploaded from the mobile app. Your images now display with the true-to-life color and clarity you captured, so every upload looks its best.

Background videos that captivate every visitor. We restored background video playback in Google Chrome. The cinematic first impression you've designed now greets every visitor, no matter which browser they use.

Clear guidance when something needs your attention. We fixed an issue where error messages weren't appearing when incorrect information was submitted in gallery settings. You'll now see exactly what needs adjusting, saving you time and taking the guesswork out of getting your settings just right.

Flawless image display in every Lightbox view. We resolved a bug causing a thin pixelated color band on some images in Lightbox view. Your photos now showcase beautifully across your galleries, presenting your work with the pristine quality your viewers deserve.

Stress-free coupon management. We resolved a problem where entering an invalid coupon code would lock up the coupon editor. Creating and adjusting your promotions now flows smoothly, letting you focus on driving sales rather than wrestling with the tool.
